The Cross-Headden-Staten-Summers (CHS2) Technology Scholarship is an award given to a graduating student from Wartburg Central High School (Tennessee) who has exhibited outstanding skills in technology. The scholarship is named in honor of educators who made technology resources and curriculum available to students in the 1990s and 2000s.
During the 1990s and early 2000s, Wartburg Central High School had access to some of the latest technology available - high speed internet, a computer lab furnished with some of the newest computers, classroom technology, and curricula that integrated technology into projects and coursework. Many students who attended WCHS during these years have gone on to successful careers in technology-related fields. Without the dedication of educators who worked diligently to attain these leading-edge resources and develop curricula, it would not have been possible.
Today, we honor these educators by establishing a scholarship fund in their name: the Cross-Headden-Staten-Summers (CHS2) Technology Scholarship. A one-time scholarship of $1,000 is awarded to a graduating senior who has exhibited outstanding skills and work in the area of technology.
Eligible students are graduating seniors with a 3.0 cumulative GPA planning to enroll in an accredited post-secondary institution, such as a technical school, community college, or 4-year college or university. The scholarship recipient will be chosen based on applicant materials, including academic standing, quality of work submitted, reference letters, and future plans. Scholarship funds will be sent directly to the institution upon proof of active enrollment.
